Understanding the role of La Ha women in the family and community

USAID, iSEE (2019)

The report is prepared by Tay Bac Group. The report provides an overview of the position and role of La Ha women in the family, in the labor division as well as in the community activities. Hence, we could identify the similarities and differences of the gender role in cultural practices (traditional culture, La Ha customs, and traditions) compared to the one described in the report The document also gives a “new perspective” to the research team and public audiences about the La Ha people in general and La Ha ethnic women in particular, in comparison to what everyone has known before.

Questions raised in this study include:
– How do La Ha women perceive their roles in the family and community?
– How does the community (La Ha ethnic group, other ethnic groups, and local socio-political organizations) have effects on La Ha ethnic women?
– How do labor practices and external cultural activities affect women’s role, and whether they experience change or be influenced by those practices?
